QUALITY MANAGER (Ingredients) Location: Maryland
Due to recent growth, the company is looking for an experienced QUALITY ASSURANCE MANANGER or DIRECTOR, (depending on experience), to lead and direct the overall food safety and quality activities of this specialty ingredient manufacturer based in Maryland. Position to include ongoing development and implementation of the entire Quality System at this key facility. In addition this position has the primary responsibility to ensure food safety and food quality training of employees. Position is also responsible for customer interaction as related to food quality or food safety issues.
Manage the QA function at the key facility
Develop, maintain, and verify/validate Quality Systems.
Serve as primary SQF Practitioner for the Company.
Serve as HACCP Plan administrator.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and other applicable regulatory law compliance.
Serve as primary customer interface for quality concerns, audits, etc.
Responsible for Federal, State and other regulatory compliance.
Assist in the approval of equipment and facility design to ensure food safety and quality objectives are met.
Assist in product quality determination with Production (as necessary).
Lead and direct activities of the Food Quality and Safety Committee.
Ensure all employees are adhering to GMP’s, HACCP, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Ensure that all physical areas within and around the facility are secure and safe to ensure the safety of plant personnel and product integrity and serve as Security Coordinator for the plant.
Make process improvement suggestions and help coordinate implementation.
Administer and monitor Environmental Monitoring Program and monthly internal audits.
MUST have BS in Food Science, Food Engineering, Microbiology or related degree , Master degree is preferred
Must have at least 5 years in QA Management
Prefer candidates that have experience working with specialty ingredients or flavors
MUST have a Certificate in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point methodology (HACCP) (required)
MUST be a Certified SQF Practitioner
Training in Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods (preferred)
Team-oriented personality with excellent communication skills.
Must be detail oriented and attentive.
Must be proficient in mathematics and scientific principles of food processing.
