Marketing Communication & Social Media Specialist – (Flavor Manufacturer)

Northbrook, IL

Our client is a world class mid-sized, manufacturer of flavors and fragrances sold the world over. Due to continued growth, they are hiring a Marketing Communication & Social Media Specialist who is responsible for organizing and managing the communication and social media initiatives for the Marketing team and overall company. They will be the main point of contact for all marketing projects, marketing communications and social media activity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Marketing Director and supporting the marketing team with marketing communication and other marketing and customer specific activities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers and vendors in support of all Marketing needs

  • Lead tracking of marketing projects through the global project management system

  • Subject matter expert for uploading marketing materials to online libraries, internet, digital asset management tool and social media sites

  • Acts as communication lead for Marketing responding to questions and requests for information

  • Communicate and coordinate with global marketing personnel on key initiatives and maintains quarterly global marketing meetings, recaps and global marketing calendar

  • Assist in developing internal and external marketing communication like e-campaigns, press releases and other documents

  • Manage advertising including print, digital and press relations

  • Responsible for tradeshow management and support including assistance with booth design, execution and setup/take down as needed

Social Media Responsibilities:

  • Manages branding and develops strong online communities through our digital and social media platforms – LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

  • Maximizes social media traffic through the implementation of outreach campaigns and manages weekly posts relaying industry updates, trends and company changes

  • Works with Marketing Director and team to set corporate social media strategy Develops, maintains and communicates key KPI’s across organization including customer engagement, social media and marketing activity

  • Proactively engages in responding to feedback on all social media outlets

  • Participates in all companywide activities and events to develop internal/external communications focusing on employees, corporate responsibility, sustainability, etc.

  • Cultivates innovative and effective strategies that increase positive company branding, thought leadership and overall social media presence


  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in digital/social media, communications or marketing

  • Must have 1-3 Years’ experience working in Marketing, PR, Social/Digital Marketing or Communications

  • Manufacturing experience is required and food/ingredient or similar manufacturing experience would be a plus… but not required

  • Must be proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable with Adobe Suite

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Must have exemplary customers service skills with the proven ability to resolve issues

  • Must be able to effectively problem solve

  • Must have the ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency

  • Should be detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment

  • Should have superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner

  • Must have experience writing/editing for promotional emails, social media and blog posts, advertisement and website copy, or other communications materials

  • Must have the ability to be both self-directed and work well as part of a team

  • Should be able to complete multiple assignments with competing deadlines
