Summary

Our client is a global niche manufacturer of specialty ingredients, flavors and colors based in the Charlotte, NC area. Due to growth and expansion, they are looking to hire an experienced PROCESS ENGINEER with Food, Beverage, Ingredient, Flavor, Pharmaceutical or similar Manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Engineering
• Participate in large scale CapEx projects as process engineer in all the stages of the project; from conceptual design to ramp-up of production.
• Manage small-scale or revamp projects as project engineer in all stages of the project.
• Daily follow-up of production processes.
• Provide engineering support to Production, Maintenance and Quality with troubleshooting of the existing production units.
• To assist in the processes and manufacturing lines and support the teams to root cause technical issues and implement corrective and preventative measures.
• Initiate, design, plan and lead technical investigations into complex processing problems requiring new and innovative solutions.
• Work closely together with R&D to introduce new products, improve quality, food safety and/or increase capacity or capabilities.
• Develop and implement operating procedures for food processing equipment; Build training programs for equipment operators.
• Train employees as needed to implement procedural or other changes.
• Lead or facilitate efficiency improvement projects such as changeover time reduction, loss percentage reduction, and labor efficiency improvements.
• Assist Quality Team with audits to provide requested process information and finding solutions.
• Provide the Sales Team with solutions to customer requests pertaining to engineering and processing.
• Initiate, prepare, implement energy saving improvement within the building and processes including optimizing the building bound utilities systems.
• Assist cross-functionally in areas of short-term need when expertise or skills are needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive productivity and quality through analysis of production lines and application of lean principles.
• Handle tasks and assignments as needed to meet the needs of the business.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Bioprocess or Process Technology; Master’s degree a plus
• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar PROCESS ENGINEERING role
• Demonstrated experience participating as process engineer in CapEx projects
• Familiarity with HAZOP and HACCP analysis
• Experience with engineering documentation (PFD, P&ID, Item List, URS, DRS), automation documents (FDS, SFC) and production documents (SOP)
• Technical knowledge about hygienic design
• High level of mechanical/technical skills and hand on mentality are a must
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional team building and development skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Experience with data compilation and analysis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Working knowledge of the following software programs: Microsoft Office package
• Experience with Maintenance Management software is a plus
• Willingness to travel as training is partly taken place in Europe
• Experience as process engineer at an EPC contractor is a plus
