Summary

Based in the Chicago-land area, our client is an award winning FLAVOR MANUFACTURER, providing customized flavor solutions to food and beverage companies across the world. They are well respected, have a very strong history and excellent, collaborative work culture!

Responsibilities

They are actively seeking an experienced FLAVORIST and/or CERTIFIED FLAVOR CHEMIST – Dairy/Sweet Flavors The experienced FLAVORISTS will provide essential support to internal and external customers regarding the creation, duplication, selection, and presentation of customized flavors. This position is primarily responsible for selecting and creating flavors that meet customer needs, determining flavor application interactions, flavor stability and building technical credibility with external customers through project interactions and successful flavor solutions. The Flavorist will work closely with Management, Sales and Marketing on the development of creative concepts. The Flavorist will interact with Customers, Application Scientists, Marketing, Account Executives, Research and Innovation, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Product Safety & Quality, Analytical, Sensory, Manufacturing, and other Business Units.

Requirements

• MUST have a Bachelor degree or equivalent related experience
• MUST plus a minimum of 7-10 years flavor creation experience and a proven track record of commercial success in either 1) Beverage 2) Sweet Flavors 3) Dairy, Confectionery. • Certified Member of the Society of Flavor Chemists is a plus (preferred but not required) • Possess technical capabilities for water and oil soluble flavors, spray drying, emulsions, extractions, plating, and dry blending • Skilled in matching flavors, developing taste modulation systems, and creating flavors for highly regulated areas such as Non GMO Project, GMO, Organic, TTB, through the use of both natural and synthetic materials
• Ability to interpret and apply analytical data to create flavors that meet customer needs
• Possess excellent organoleptic and sensory language skills
• Solid project management skills
• Must effectively work within teams in both leadership and supportive roles, depending on project needs
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to tailor technical communications for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to manage or mentor technicians for their development
• Experience with creating flavors for multiple countries, across multiple flavor segments preferred
