Our client is one of the largest Dairy Manufacturers in the world with almost 90,000 employees across the globe! They are currently looking to hire an experienced Senior Food Scientist /Product Developer to be based out of their R&D Facility located in the Manchester, NH area. This position will be directly involved in new product development and formulation improvements for “Core” Dairy Products and Yogurts. The Senior Food Scientist/Product Developer will work closely with internal cross functional R&D teams and external suppliers, hands on bench and analytical work, pilot plant work, managing formula cost and specifications (ingredients and product & process), conducting and coordinating industrial tests in plants, and assisting in industrial start-ups of new and improved products. The candidate must be able to represent R&D interest within the company for ALL applicable projects.
Managing projects according to stage gate process methodology.
• Act as R&D driver on product attributes definition vs consumer expectations as well as technical solutions within each project team. • Develop formulations and processes to deliver on consumer expectations, within project food safety, costs and timing requirements • Design pilot trials, organize tasting sessions with Marketing, and draw conclusions and recommendations for next steps.
• Participate in consumer test design, organize sample production and ensure product quality follow up.
• Realize scale up / industrialization with Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
• Collaborate with suppliers to obtain best results for product development (brief suppliers and follow up on their progress)
• Participate as an R&D representative for product launch/start up by preparing all specifications related to product line and ensure that all documentation needed is available prior to start up.
Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Biology, Chemistry or similar science. Masters degree is a plus. • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years’ of R&D experience, ideally with a focus on Dairy & Cultured products.
• Must have strong project management/organization and leadership skills.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have the ability to work cross-functionally and able to train staff.
• Should be proficient in computer skills.
• Flexibility to travel occasionally (up to 20%) .
