PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST- (Dairy Ingredients/Dairy Proteins)

Job Description:

Our client is one of the world’s leading multinational companies developing producing and selling natural, nutritional and high-quality dairy nutritional ingredients and other functional ingredients. They produce and market a broad range of high-quality, distinctive ingredients and semi–finished products based on whey, milk and other dairy components. These products are sold to food and beverage, sports nutrition; infant foods and pharmaceuticals manufacturers across the world.
 
Due to recent growth, they are seeking an experienced PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST to join their R&D team located in the Binghamton, NY area. The R&D department for the Nutritional Division utilizes Dairy based ingredients, Whey Proteins and Protein hydrostates to develop and scale up new products, support the production facility with both product and process modifications, provide technical support to customers in the Food and PharmaceuticalSegmentsand become an expert in our core ingredients and their applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new ingredient applications, reformulate products, make product improvements and modifications using Dairy based ingredients, Whey Proteins, Protein Hydrostates etc.

  • Lead multidisciplinary, international project teams with the focus on developing new products and implementing product and/or process changes.
  • Translate knowledge and problems into concrete actions to meet internal and external customer demands.

  • If required, travel with sales representatives to our customers.
  • Be valued by sales colleagues and customers for the contribution to customer projects.

  • Have a pragmatic/hands-on approach in solving problems (laboratory and pilot-scale).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST have a BA degree (MS degree preferred) - in Food Science, Dairy Science Biochemistry, Food Nutrition, Biology or similar.

  • MUSThave at least 5+ years of R&D experience with at least 3 years experience working with INFANT FORMULA, BABY FOOD or other MEDICAL/NUTRITIONAL PRODUCTS for theinfant/medical nutrition segmentutilizing DAIRY INGREDIENTS and/or WHEY PROTEINS/ PROTEIN HYDROSTATES ETC.

  • Nutritional and/or Regulatory experience is a big plus.

  • MUSThave strong math and statistical skills .

  • MUSThave clear and convincing communication and listening skills.

  • MUSThave experience interacting with customers and clients.

  • MUSTbe a flexible team player.

  • MUSTbe hands-on, pro-active and take ownerships of tasks.
