Manager - Gums

Overview:
One of the
largest and most respected specialty ingredient manufacturers of
gums, hydrocolloids and formulated gums systems are seeking to fill
a key position – National Sales Manager. This position is
home based and will require extensive travel domestically. This
person will manage US Sales along with several Account Managers
throughout the US.
SUMMARY:
The National Sales Manager focuses on achieving sales revenue and
market share targets by developing and executing business plans,
coordinating with the Marketing team, and ensuring effective
coverage of territories in support of the Inside and Outside Sales
departments.
This position
will act as a coach in the development of the sales team to enable
them with the tools necessary to maximize sales. In addition this
position will focus on leveraging and growing partnerships with key
customers nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.

Develops and
implements an effective strategic sales plan in support of
organizational strategy and objectives; is accountable for
meeting yearly sales growth goals.

Provides
regular and structured coaching and opportunity management to
the sales staff in support of meeting sales growth goals.
Builds, develops and manages sales team capable of delivering
needed sales and service initiatives.

Serves as
Strategic Account Manager for assigned accounts. Team member
and/or coach for additional strategic accounts as needed.

Travels with
the sales staff 80% of time.

Provides
quarterly sales training sessions; utilizes outside resources as
needed.

Is
responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of the company’s
sales forecast.

Compiles and
analyzes competitive sales information and recommends actions
pertaining to new product development, product improvement,
marketing, pricing, and distribution to include:

Researching, developing & maintaining long & short range
sales & marketing plans.

Producing regular reports & final plans for Manager’s
approval.

Maintaining an up-to-date awareness of strategic plans and
procedures to coordinate market plans.

Monitoring, analyzing and communicating sales data to
contribute to product/service planning.

Is
responsible for the management of the Sales force database and
all sales related documentation within the ISO system.

Stays
abreast of current trends, market conditions, and technological
advances through continued education.

Develops and
maintains communications in a cooperative and
professional manner with all levels of
staff and customers.
EXPERIENCE:
-
Bachelor’s
Degree in Food Science, Business or related field, required.
M.B.A. preferred.

10 years of
technical ingredient sales management experience required (5 in
a National Sales Management capacity) or equivalent combination
of education and experience.

Experience
working with Gums and Hydrocolloids preferred.

Prior R&D
experience is very helpful. Experience calling on and selling to
R&D groups is required.
