Account Manager - Nutritional Ingreditents

Location: U.S. Home Based

Our client is one of the world’s leading multinational ingredient companies, developing producing and selling natural and high-quality dairy based functional and nutritional ingredients.

These products are sold to food and beverage, sports nutrition, infant foods and pharmaceutical manufacturers. They are seeking a “Home Based’ Sales Manager to sell an exclusive line of Specialty Nutritional Ingredients to a market segment throughout the US.

 

The Account Manager works closely with colleagues from R&D, Sales Support, Product Management and Operations, and serves as the key driver to ensure the satisfaction of the customer and that the companies financial objectives are meet.  Although much of the communication is done via telephone and email, there is considerable travel both domestically and internationally.

Goals and Scope:

  • To show business growth in terms of volume, net sales and most importantly, profitability by protecting existing business, generating new business defined by growing existing customers, introducing new products to existing customers, and bringing on new customers.
  • Together with the Product Group Management and R&D, develops sales strategy to deliver short term success where segments allow, and build long term growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for realization of budgeted net sales and Gross Profit Contribution per key account.
  • Monitors innovation programs from a customer perspective (run in time, budget, customer requirements).
  • Monitors programs for improvement of customer satisfaction on a continuous basis in terms of logistics, quality.
  • Manages process for new key accounts on new product introduction and technical assistance when necessary.
  • Responsible for price management and value pricing concepts.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have at least 5+ years of NUTRITIONAL INGREDIENT SALES experience.
  • Must have experience calling on food, beverage and/or pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Must know how to sell “value added” ingredients and have experience calling on R&D groups.
  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required Chemistry, Food Science, Business or similar.  An advanced technical degree or MBA is considered a plus.
  • Prior R&D experience is also a plus but not required
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be comfortable working for a large multinational company  
  • Must be willing to travel frequently (domestic and international)
  • Will be home based anywhere in the US and must be willing to travel to the Corporate offices in Northern N.J. approximately 4 days per month.
