Brand Manager - Grocery Segment

Location: Des Plaines, IL

Job Description:

Our client is a well known, high quality food manufacturer and marketer based in the Chicagoland area. Business is booming and they are expanding again! As a result, they have an immediate need for an experienced Brand Manager / Trade Marketing Manager to help grow their grocery store segment. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and career oriented Brand Manager to help drive brand sales through account/channel marketing strategies, pricing, programs, promotions and effective new product launches. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with designated sales channels to create trade marketing programs and promotions targeting key customers and segments to achieve fiscal year sales goals within budget parameters.
  • Develop and execute new product launch strategies with customer base
  • Work with Sales teams to develop and execute base distribution strategies that meet brand objectives, focused on retail programs that meet customer’s needs
  • Develop and execute customer pricing, new product communications, competitive analysis and trend analysis
  • Develop marketing materials, information, and tools
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to provide forecasting and distribution insight for new products and innovation projects
  • Responsible for the disposition of slow moving and obsolete items
  • Champion focused account/channel expertise to provide business intelligence to both sales and marketing in key areas of interest (packaging, pricing, competition, merchandising etc)
  • Responsible for maintenance and reporting of the trade spend budgets, ensuring we are in budget while meeting brand objectives and maximizing spend
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate return on investment and profitability of existing and potential products, existing and potential customers and programs
  • Create and implement promotional and cross-promotional opportunities to increase sales and market penetration with other companies as available
  • Customer visits and meetings as required or deemed necessary
  • Additional responsibilities and functions as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years experience in a Brand Marketing role that entailed developing and executing strategies that included: pricing, programs, promotions and new product programs that drove growth
  • Must have experience and be familiar with the grocery market segment.
  • Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in Marketing or a related business discipline
  • Utilization of syndicated data to analyze market trends and P&L for pricing and program recommendations
  • Must have worked with sales teams – Consumer products experience preferred
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office applications including superior skills with PowerPoint, detailed Excel worksheets, and database management
  • Some travel may be required - up to 20%
