QA Supervisor

Job Description:
Our client is a large, global food and ingredient manufacturer. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced QA SUPERVISOR to help manage the quality function at one of their key plants located in the Bloomington, IL area. The QUALITY SUPERVISOR carries out technical and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This position reports to the Plant Quality Assurance & Technical Manager and directly supervises employees in the QA Lab.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ÿ Directs and advises personnel in special test procedures to analyze components and physical properties of product materials.
Ÿ Supervisor the lab technicians and quality inspectors in the plant
Ÿ Compiles and analyzes test information to determine operating efficiency of process or equipment and to diagnose malfunctions.
Ÿ Tests and analyzes sample products, adjusting formulas and processes based on results.
Ÿ Aseptic product and environmental sampling techniques. Maintain plant environmental testing program. Implement and follow-up on corrective actions.
Ÿ Prepares test solutions, compounds, and reagents for use by laboratory personnel in conducting tests.
Ÿ Investigates complaints on existing products and responds to vendor or customer.
Ÿ Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet testing schedules.
Ÿ Develops and recommends test procedures for products and raw materials and maintains test equipment.
Ÿ Analyzes and resolves, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Ÿ Maintains time and testing records, reporting monthly.
Ÿ Trains lab group on safety topics, quality procedures and business updates for the month.
Ÿ Participates in other plant teams and programs such as HACCP Team, SQF Team, and others as assigned.
Ÿ Oversee the efficient implementation of quality standards, programs and processes to improve operational efficiencies and reduce/eliminate production waste and HOLD product
Ÿ Train employees in SOP’s and ensure training effectiveness in application of job skills
Ÿ Evaluate employees through performance reviews, ongoing coaching and feedback methods
Ÿ Continuously improve performance based on the key performance indicators
REQUIREMENTS:
Ÿ Must have a (B.S.) from four-year degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
Ÿ 5 + years of previous QA experience with a food, beverage, ingredient or flavor manufacturer
Ÿ Must have at least 3 years of QA supervisory/leadership experience
Ÿ Must be able to work in a large fast paced manufacturing facility
Ÿ Must have above average communication and computer skills
Ÿ Must be computer literate and knowledgeable of QA procedures and laws
Ÿ Prefers applicants that are ambitious and capable of being promoted in the future.
