R & D Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Our client is the international leader in the manufacturing of quality food and beverage. This division is located in WI and develops products sold into the Food Service segment. They are currently seeking an experience R&D Manager. This person will manage the Food Service R&D Team in support of the development of new food service products, including syrups, smoothie mixes, sauces, concentrates and bases. Create new concepts and work with various technologies including cold fill, hot fill, aseptic, homogenization, etc. Develop new products using internal and external resources to deliver products within time, taste, functionality, cost and regulatory expectations.

Work may range from marketing driven initiatives to customer specific projects and include the management of the R&D process from concept development through to scale-up. Responsibilities will extend to defining specifications and standards for finished products and interaction with key customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the Food service R&D Team
• Develop new products and applications
• Develop relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders
• Plan and document plant trials for the successful commercialization of new products
• Critically evaluate flavors and ingredients to develop great tasting products
• Provide technical support to other departments as needed.
• Manage the development process to ensure complete transparency and trace ability of work.
• Critically evaluate suppliers to determine the best and most cost effective ingredients

REQUIREMENTS:

+ Candidate should have a bachelor’s (master’s preferred) degree in Food Science, or related field and take a hands on approach to the development process.
+ Experience developing food service products
+ At least 10 years of experience working cross functionally within R&D, QA, Marketing, Culinary and Production
+ At least 3 years experience in an R&D Management Role
+ Experience working with Foodservice accounts
+ Good knowledge of ingredient functionality
+ Experience taking new products from concept through to test and final implementation.
+ Excellent project management, communication and presentation skills.
