Maintenance Engineer

Location: Binghamton, New York

Job Description:

Our client is a global leader in the manufacturer of high quality ingredients used in nutritional and pharmaceutical applications. Due to recent expansion, they are seeking an experienced MAINTENANCE ENGINEER to be based at their key plants located in upstate NY. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the generation of maintenance concepts in such a way that the reliability of production increases. They will lead the preparation of technical improvements driven by research and analysis derived from maintenance and operations personnel.  

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Ÿ  Responsible for initiating actions to break down analyses.

Ÿ  Establishment of maintenance concepts for the benefit of the entire plant including utilities and waste water treatment.

Ÿ  Establishment of improvements from the information supplied by trouble shooting mechanic with the goal of raising the output.

Ÿ  Determines, in consultation with colleagues Maintenance Supervisor the standard equipment list.

Ÿ  Conversation partner for engineering concerning maintenance issues during engineering design of new construction and is involved in maintainability modifications.

Ÿ  Works with and helps to define stock spare parts and initiates the critical articles.

Ÿ  Continuous collaboration and consulting with production, colleagues, suppliers and technologists.

Ÿ  Attend and/or manage work progress meetings within various departments and cross functional teams as appropriate.

Ÿ  Must have good knowledge of technical systems and components

Ÿ  Must be an analytical thinker.

Ÿ  Must to organized and have the ability to prioritize work load.

Ÿ  Must always maintain and incorporate Safety designs/initiatives with the input from the Production team and Safety Health and Environmental Administrator .

Ÿ  Will work with Maintenance Planner on coordination of contractors.  

REQUIREMENTS:

Ÿ  Must have a BA or BS degree in Engineering or similar type degree. Will consider applicants with a Technical degree if they have 7+ years of food manufacturing maintenance experience

Ÿ  Must have at least 5 years of Maintenance or Engineering experience AND must have FOOD, BEVERAGE or PHARMEAUTICAL Manufacturing experience.

Ÿ  Must have process improvement and management experience

Ÿ  Experience working with Dairy Ingredients or Dairy proteins would be a plus.

Ÿ  Experience with spray drying, vacuum – evaporation, CIP systems and filtration would be a plus!

Ÿ  Must be able to work in a plant environment and have some flexibility to work outside of normal business hours when needed.

Ÿ  Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude and strong project management skills

Ÿ  Six Sigma experience would be a plus

Ÿ  Ability to react quickly to changing requirements and new processing developments.

Ÿ  Good written and verbal communication skills necessary

Ÿ  Must have the ability to train/educate people
