Microbiologist Fermentation Scientist

Location: Memphis, TN

Job Description:

Our client is a well known manufacturer of products geared toward for adults. They are currently seeking an experienced Microbiologist with  a Fermentation background.  This position requires the ability to perform a variety of research projects/activities related to the microbial fermentation and microbiology necessary for process development and the improvement of finished product. It requires a solid body of experience applicable to fermentation processes and microbiology at laboratory and production scales. The successful candidate will be expected to interact effectively with their supervisor, R&D team members, and with plant production personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

Prioritize and coordinate fermentation research activities.

Perform and supervise laboratory and scale up activities to improve fermentation processes, and perform laboratory work in microbiology in support of process optimization.

 Participate in the development and implementation of quality control and SOPs related to fermentations and production as required.

Contribute through the use of modern microbiological/molecular techniques to support fermentation runs and recommend approaches for subsequent experiments.

Qualifications:

Education in Food Science/Microbiology or related discipline required.

 Five years (5+)  of surveillance experience in Fermentation or Food Safety in microbiology  - in a Quality Assurance, Operations, or Regulatory role (FDA and cGMP) required.

Ability to write reports, analyze results, and carry out improvements using data from previous experiments.

Exceptional organizational and communicative skills and the ability to work with others.

Proficiency in MS Office and other software for data organization and reporting.
