Quality Manager
Location: Kansas City, KS
Job Description:
Our client is a global leader in the manufacturer of high quality Ingredients and Flavors used in Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical applications. Due to recent growth, they are seeking an experienced QA Manager to be based at one of their key manufacturing facilities located in the Kansas City, KS area. This Quality Assurance Manager position will require at least 5 to 10 years of food, beverage or ingredient manufacturing experience. The plant Quality Manager provides leadership in quality and technical matters in the plant as well as provide technical QA expertise to customers.
Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain qualified personnel within the plant Quality department. This involves organizational development, personnel assessment, training, direction and motivation.
· Develop and maintain procedures which assure product and service quality including ingredient and packaging control, product testing and clearance, product disposition system and rework control, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), HACCP, weight control, manufacturing procedures, aged inventory policy and may include systems and sanitation audits. Communicate and enforce company standards in the areas of ingredient and product standards, process specifications, formula compliance, sanitation/GMP/pest control, and regulatory compliance.
· Develop and lead the plant Quality Improvement Program.
· Provide technical support and direction to the plant to address process improvements and customer complaint corrective actions.
· Investigate and introduce opportunities for new technology and efficiencies in the Quality function.
· Manage the plant Quality department within budget.
· Act as the primary technical liaison with customers and vendors.
Requirements
· Must have a BS or MS in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science or similar science.
· Must have at least 5+ years of QA Management experience within the food industry.
· Experience working with cereal or confectionary products is a plus.
· Must have experience working with regulatory agencies
· Strong leadership skills in managing change as well as managing the activities of technically based QA employees.
· Highly proficient in utilizing popular computer software / desktop applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc.)
· Must be capable of positively interacting with other companies/customers as well as executive management.
