Account Manager - Bakery Ingredients

Job Description:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of value added ingredients and flavors worldwide. They are seeking a motivated technical ACCOUNT MANAGER to grow and manage its expanding bakery ingredient business within their Region. This person will be selling value added ingredients and customized ingredients systems - consisting of multiple ingredients. Company requires that this position be filled with someone with a technical R&D background or relevant science degree. Company will consider applicants without a technical background provided they have 7+ years of bakery ingredient/flavor sales experience calling on bakery manufacturers in their region. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ÿ  Call on R&D groups at Bakery Manufacturers in assigned region.

Ÿ  Generate new business and solicit new customers and product opportunities with new clients in the Bakery Segment.

Ÿ  Maintain close personal contact with all key clients

Ÿ  Identify opportunities with customers where Company can offer technology solutions that add real value.

Ÿ  Work closely with cross-company technical, commercial and operational personnel to progress key identified opportunities.

Ÿ  Develop a detailed knowledge of the products offered by Company to the sector.

Ÿ  Develop a detailed understanding of competitors, their products and key market drivers.

Ÿ  Provide detailed information on current and prospective customers, competitors and trends in segment within region.

Ÿ  Ensure agreed commercial sales targets for the division are met. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Ÿ  Applicants MUST have a BA/BS degree. Company prefers a Food Science, Bakery/Cereal Science or similar Science degree. 

Ÿ  MUST have 5+ years experience selling VALUE ADDED, SPECIALTY INGREDIENT/FLAVORS.

Ÿ  MUST have at least 3 years of technical ingredient and/or flavor sales experience calling on bakery manufacturers in their assigned region.

Ÿ  MUST be technically competent and company prefers applicants that have prior R&D bench experience.

Ÿ  MUST have a technical understanding of ingredient and flavor applications and how to put together more complex ingredient and flavor systems.

Ÿ  MUST have a sound understanding of the competitors in the bakery segment. 

Ÿ  Will consider R&D applicants who have a desire to move into a technical sales role providing they have 10+ years of bakery product development experience and have experience giving presentations to customers, supporting their sales organization.

Ÿ  Will consider applicants based anywhere in the US and must be willing to travel frequently (up to 70%) 

Ÿ  MUST have above average communication and presentation skills.

Ÿ  MUST have a professional demeanor and strong business acumen along with a solid understanding of basic financials, margins, budgets etc.
