Sr. Food Technologist
A Global Leader in the Manufacturer of Specialty Ingredients and Flavors seeks a Senior Food Technologist with extensive meat/poultry seasoning development and application experience. This position is available due to a recent investment into a “state of the art” R&D facility which is located in NJ.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative blend development from concept generation to formulating new flavoring blend prototypes for a wide range product line focused on but not limited to meat products. Develop blends (both liquid blends and dry seasoning) meeting the needs of marketing for expanding the customer base. Applications knowledge that includes selection, application, and creation of finished protein based meat and poultry) finished products. Manufacture meat products utilizing meat processing equipment, following industry procedures and protocols. Product duplications of competitive blends, utilizing analytical and sensory procedures. Optimization and commercialization of blends, for functional or economic purposes. Prompt execution of technical service requests. Execute plans for project completion using available resources, write summary reports. Act as a technical resource internally (QC, production, etc.) and to customers. Communicate on a professional level with customers, providing service and solutions to their product. Conduct customer-driven projects to resolve technical problems; participate in technical presentations or any needed technical service activities. Assist sales representatives as a key technical contact; develop and perform product demonstrations if needed. Provide technical support (blend development, duplications, presentations, technical assistance). Some travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
ˇ Bachelor's degree (BS) in Food Science or related field at a minimum.
ˇ Minimum of Seven (7) years of related experience in dry seasoning / liquid flavor blends and food product development.
ˇ Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
ˇ Ability to write reports and correspondence, record data and maintain formulas.
ˇ Ability to use math concepts.
ˇ Good sensory abilities and experience with a wide range of flavors and tastes.
ˇ Experience/familiarity with ethnic, exotic, or international cuisine's desired, culinary skills.
ˇ Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position
