Our client is a global leader in the manufacturer of high quality dairy ingredients used in nutritional and pharmaceutical applications. Due to recent growth they are looking for an experienced plant Microbiologist.  The Microbiologist implements pathogen testing procedures on finished products and interprets pour plates of product sample for specification approval. 

Job requirements

Reading of plates for determination of: Standard Plate Count, Coliforms/E. coli, Thermophiles, Yeasts and Molds. Also includes any necessary follow-up work, gram stains, and identifications 

Testing of finished product for the presence of: Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, Group D Streptococcus, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus cereus 

·         Performs routine peptone agar plate/test tube screening of diagnostic media products

·         Enters data results into SAP

·         Preparation of laboratory medias and reagents

·         Quality Control of prepared media

·         Maintenance/preservation of working and stock cultures

·         Assists with Chemical Inventory

·         Performs routine preventative maintenance on balances and incubators

·         Performs environmental monitoring

·         Participates in GMP audits 

Requirements

·          BS in Microbiology or a related field.  Should have a working knowledge of microbiology and microbiological techniques, hygiene, fermentation. 

·          Previous microbiology lab work experience (3-5 years).

·          Strong organizational skills

·          Proficient with computer systems, particularly Microsoft software programs

·          Good verbal and written communication skills.

·          Ability to independently carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
